Rights and duties of the researcher
Rights of hired personnel.
- Those stated in Article 14 of Law 14/2011, of June 1, as well as in Chapter II of Royal Decree 103/2019, of March 11.
- Obtain the necessary collaboration and support for the normal development of their research work from the Departments or Institutes and Research Centers to which they are incorporated, in accordance with their availability.
- Exemption from academic fees (excluding administrative fees) exclusively in the enrollment of the doctoral program that has given access to this contract.
- Participate in calls for grants to support the research career development of ULPGC researchers.
Obligations of hired staff.
- Those included in Article 15 of Law 14/2011, of June 1st, as well as in Chapter II of Royal Decree 103/2019, of March 11th.
- To join, once the employment contract is formalized, the department to which the thesis director belongs, adhering to its internal regulations and dedicating themselves exclusively to the training and scientific specialization activities, the subject of the contract.
- To follow the training guidelines established by the thesis director, carrying out the activities contemplated in the training and research specialization program and fulfilling the objectives with proficiency.
- To assume the obligations corresponding to their inclusion in the General Social Security System.
- To enroll in the corresponding doctoral program for all academic years necessary until the contract ends or the doctoral thesis is read, and to send the corresponding proof to the Research Service.
- To request authorization from the Vice-Rector for Research and Knowledge Transfer at ULPGC, with duly justified reasons, for any modification of the contract award conditions (change of supervisor, change of research line, etc.).
- To request authorization from the Vice-Rector for Research and Knowledge Transfer at ULPGC to be absent from their workplace. Applications must be submitted 20 natural days in advance of the start of the absence, through the ULPGC's specific electronic platform called "Request for Authorization of Research Personnel Absences". It is the responsibility of the person concerned to apply for and obtain the necessary documents to guarantee healthcare coverage if traveling to EU member countries or countries with which there is a bilateral agreement, or to obtain insurance with the corresponding coverage for other countries.
- To state in all publications developed during the duration of the contract, including the doctoral thesis, their status as a predoctoral contracted researcher in the ULPGC's Pre-doctoral Research Personnel Training Program, and to include the logos of the public and private entities that co-finance these contracts.
- To inform the competent administrative structure at ULPGC, in accordance with the specific regulations established, of any research results, whether inventions or innovations, eligible for protection under industrial, intellectual property, or trade secret rights, obtained as a result of the activities carried out by the predoctoral researcher during the contract period, and which will be owned by ULPGC, without prejudice to the recognition of the corresponding authorship.
- To inform the Research Management Office of the expected date of the doctoral thesis defense act at least one month in advance.
- To notify the Research Management Office of the result of the thesis defense, providing a copy of the minutes, within a period of five calendar days from the defense.
- The requests and communications sent by the contracted person to the Vice-Rectorate Office or the Research Management Office shall be submitted through the ULPGC's electronic platform and addressed to the Research Management Office.
